The Orange and Yellow Flower

orange flower

A couple of weeks ago, Ahnalaya Ann wanted to show me something. It was this glorious orange and yellow flower in the front yard. She was getting ready to pick it when I went…WHOA…hold your horses there young lady…grandma needs to take a picture of that first. She ran into the house with me to get my camera. While I was getting my DSLR, I handed her my little Canon sure shot and told her she could practice taking pictures with me.

She was super excited. Being an inquisitive little child, she goes through grandma’s stuff until she is satisfied she has seen and experienced it all. I have been amazed at how quickly Ahnalaya Ann learns how to use my equipment. I let her take her flower pictures first…she became my subject then. The picture below is one she took of this pretty little orange and yellow flower. After she was satisfied with this flower, she took pictures of other flowers that lined the yard.

Grandma was SUPER thrilled with some of the pictures she took, but it touched my heart more that she was enjoying photography right alongside me. It had never occurred to me that she might like the hobby.

Ahnalaya Ann is checking out the pictures she took.

Since that day, Ahnalaya Ann has taken many pictures with my little sure shot. There are truly parts of this camera she knows how to work better than I do. Baffling to me.

This Morning’s Walk

This morning after taking pictures on our walk, I sat down at the computer to download them. While sitting together, she started talking about her camera. My response was…WHOSE camera is that? Her response…MINE! A discussion ensued with me explaining who owns the camera she borrows from time to time. She amuses me.

I love this pose of my granddaughter…but maybe I love every shot of her. Biased? Maybe a bit. Ahnalaya is such a sassy little girl and the way she is standing just speaks her sass to me. We have concluded as a family that sass is just part of who we all are. Not sure why that is but we are all super sassy in nature. It makes our family gatherings more enjoyable and entertaining.

I love my kids…and am majorly in love with the grandkids.

Got another one on the way too!! Another addition to our family. We are growing in so many ways! Just MARVY!!!
