lego car

I have fond memories of Legos. While my children were growing up, we collected Legos. It seemed to be the present of choice for holidays and birthdays. The kids spent hours playing with them alone, with siblings, and with their friends when friends were over.

As a mom who loved to read…over the years, I spent hours reading out loud to my children. On trips, while they would clean the kitchen after a meal, in the evening, or on the weekends…I would read to them.

When we moved to the city, I might read a novel to them over a weekend while the boys played with Legos and my daughter would quilt or work on her embroidery. For me personally, sitting still is hard. I prefer to be doing something with my hands even if I am sitting to watch a movie. I think it builds something in your mind as you work with your hands and listen with your ears. My tendency was to encourage the children to find something quiet to do while I read to them. It seemed like the books became more enjoyable while the Legos were being combined to build a marvelous Lego creation.

The only downside of Legos and children…stepping on one of those things in the middle of the night. MAN…they are rough on the bottoms of your feet. 😳

Lego Photo Practice

The photo in the featured image of the blue car…is Bobbi’s car.

I just adore this little dude. He makes me smile.

He looks so boss-like sitting up there on that three-wheeler. 😜

Turns out…adulthood and Legos go hand in hand also. 😂 Mitchell has a bestie…whose name is Michael. If you want a face with the name…in this post…you will see Michael sitting beside Mr. Mitchell man at my 50th birthday party.

Mitchell, Bobbi, and Michael have spent oodles of hours together. They are like the three musketeers. One day, they went shopping for Legos, and each bought cars they liked and wanted to build. This blue race car was one Bobbi purchased.

I felt like taking a picture of at least one of their cars and this was my favorite…because blue IS my favorite color. 😍

Pregnancy

Mitchell and Bobbi are currently expecting my next grandbaby in April of next year. Over the moon about it…we all are.

A few days after the happy announcement was heard around the family, I called Mitchell to ask him privately how he was handling the news.

I will share a snippet of that conversation…and his response to my question.

Well, Mom…at first, I was pretty shocked and it took me a while to process it. BUT…Bobbi, Michael, and I all discussed it…and decided that now we have an excuse to buy all the Legos we want. We can say they are for the kid.

😂🤣 ROFL!!

Sounds JUST like the three of them. Hysterical way to look at it. I love my kids. They are an entertaining group of people. 😍 I am blessed to have them.

It is super sweet to see Mitchell preparing for his child. Aunt Malia bought the baby a fancy schmancy stroller. Going all out! Bobbi sent us a snap of Mitchell assembling and playing with it. He pushes the empty thing around the house. He is excited to be a dad he says.

Outdoor Photography

One summer day I had an itch to practice photography…playing around with my macro lens and my telephoto doing close-ups. I pulled out the little Lego men to play with outside.

I tell you…I had so much fun playing with these little dudes. My neighbors thought I was crazy though. 😵‍💫 What else is new???? 😉 Been called crazy more times than I can count at this point in my life. 😂 Never a dull moment with me.

I was kind of pleased with the practice photos. As always, there is room for improvement, but they made me smile so I am good with that.

You gotta have a little fun in life!!!!!!!
German Shepherd puppy ears
Look at those ears!!! So endearing.

Those Ears

When I took these Lego photos, Tonto was still a pup. He is pretty attached to me and usually, he hangs out with me when I am outside taking pictures. This means…I have a lot of pictures of him as well.

One of the things I love about German Shepherd puppies…is their ears. Amusing entertainment! They flop around all over the place until they get the strength to hold those babies up as they should. This photo is of the back of Tonto’s head while his ears have flopped inward together. I just love it.

It is adorable if you ask me.

The other thing I like about them during the puppy stage is the size of their paws in relation to the rest of their body. It gives you an idea of how big that dog is going to get. So much growing to do.

Vanessa and I laugh often together because Tonto and I have a similar trait. We are like a bull in a China shop. We both seem to struggle with spatial awareness. Running into things and people. It seems to be a rarity for me to be bruiseLESS on my body. I can run into just about anything.

While I was taking photos of our tiny Lego men, Tonto was on the chain hanging out with me. I had to get a few photos of him as well.

Starry Night

I recently sent Mitchell a text about a Lego set. It is Van Gogh’s Starry Night. It even includes a tiny Van Gogh and his easel. OUTSTANDING!!!

I want it! Not practical at all but I think it is fantastic. I can’t even imagine how much fun the Lego creators have at work each day. Coming up with these creative sets and then getting the fun of trying them out. Superb! What a job to have.

For Years to Come

I have an assumption.

German Shepherd puppy
That face and his floppy ear! Cracks me up!

With the addition of grandbabies in the family…we will be buying Legos for years to come. Currently, Donovan is the holder of all K’NEX, Legos, and Hot Wheel cars from the children’s childhood. I am wondering what Mitchell will have to say when he realizes the older grandkids have the entire collection of Legos collected through the years. 🤨😆

  1. Legos has hundreds, if not a thousand, of my dollars. We used to drive all the way to Nashville just to buy sets for the boys at the Oprey mall. Crystal, you are correct, there’s just nothing more adorable than puppy dog(s) (ears), but I can also say this (because I’m a man), that those puppies will be surpassed in cuteness by our young ones – once they become potty trained! and blue is the best color!!

  2. We have been to NYC to the Lego store there to buy Legos. LOVE that store! Super cool experience.

I used to drive to Nashville in the summer months to attend their great big flea market. They have it monthly. While there…I have found some great deals on Legos. Bags of Lego men and all their little accessories. I am a super great mom when I come home with those kinds of goodies.

You are right…our kiddos are cute! My grandbabies are the cutest!!!
