Donovan recently sent me this little video clip he took of my granddaughter Ahnalaya Ann, while she was looking at a deer in their backyard. So cute to me! I thought I would share it here on my blog.
I realize many people in this world get triggered emotionally by people who pull the firearm trigger to kill animals for food. In our family, we do eat meat and are super grateful Father created certain animals for us to consume…eat. Donovan is a man who is deeply grateful his annual deer kills drastically reduce his monthly grocery bills. When the kids were younger and we lived in the country, they watched me butchering deer, chickens, rabbits, pheasants, and filleting coolers of fish. I also planted a huge garden each year…canning most of my veggies and/or putting them in the freezer each summer.
Something else I did was to make all my own jellies and jams from all the blackberries, black raspberries, cherry trees, persimmon trees, etc. We kept the cabinets and freezers full of goodies from the land. Donovan is continuing that same lifestyle with his family as he has recently purchased 38 acres in northern Michigan. Excited to see how he transforms the land and what they produce from it. SUPER proud of the kiddos and what they are building…physically, emotionally, and spiritually. They are building beautiful homes…here in the physical world and the spiritual world. It is a labor of love for sure.
Side note…just feel led to mention I no longer eat rabbits as Father has cut them out of my diet…but they were a part of my past diet. Today, I only eat clean meats as Father has changed my perception of what is food and what is NOT food.
Getting Eggs
Vanessa recently sent me a picture she took of Donovan with the kids before they ran over to the neighbor’s house to get their weekly supply of eggs. I love this picture so much for a lot of different reasons. I believe by next year, Donovan will have his own flock of chickens. 🤣 He is his mother’s son. A carbon copy of me. We both LOVE the country lifestyle and all the benefits that go with it.
The featured image picture that Vanessa took reminds me of our life living in the country. The boys and I spent many hours shooting targets in our backyard while sitting on the deck. Now Donovan has a place where he can sit in his backyard and shoot targets once again. Fills this momma’s heart with joy to see him back in the place that makes him full of joy. Moving to the city nearly destroyed our hearts. Donovan and I had to learn to adjust and it took us both some time. Some day…I am moving back into the country so I can pee in my backyard again. Call me a redneck or a hick…I will PROUDLY own the titles for I would rather be in the country any day over living in the city of concrete and metal.
Those are a few of my thoughts today!
Have a spectacular day! I AM planning on it myself! 😆😍
