I spent a lot of my day off…focused on my pupper dog Tonto. AND…spent an enormous amount of money on him as well. He is an expensive dog.
For starters…let me just say…I didn’t want a dog. Father MADE me get a dog. Lots of reasons for that. I have grown to love my dog…but I still feel the need to make observations and point out the obvious to Father at times about His dog. I think I feel the need to poke at Him for choosing this path for me.
While vacuuming the house today…I was thinking they should make blankets out of German Shepherd fur. You know…like they do Alpacas? There has to be a way to recycle all this fur these dogs produce…right? It is unbelievable how much fur they can shed in a matter of moments. One shake and it looks like it is snowing fur. One scratch too. Crazy! 😳
We had a vet appointment this afternoon.
My Mess
Here is how this mess started. A couple of weeks ago, I ran to the pet food center to get Tonto’s dog food. It is just down the road and I had just enough time to get his food, get back home, and dump some in the bowl before leaving for work. He was COMPLETELY out of food. None.
Talk about waiting until the last minute to buy food…completely out…and about 15 minutes before I have to leave for work. WOWSER! Not a lot of forethought there on my part. 🤦♀️
After perusing the dog food aisles…I realized they must ALSO BE COMPLETELY out of Tonto’s dog food. Can’t find not one bag of it anywhere in the store.
Well…that is a problem.
I ask the clerk and she confirmed they are out. Man…now what.
Ok…well, I guess I will buy something different.
The clerk starts telling me what a bad idea that is…yep…I am aware of that. HOWEVER, Crystal waited TOO long to buy the food so now Tonto is going to have to try something else.
Not a good idea.
He had an allergic reaction to it.
My bad. Poor Tonto suffers from my procrastination.
It Itches
So Bobbi mentions Tonto is scratching a lot.
Yep…I noticed that too.
Then he develops a patch on his back and now we have a furless patch. Not just German Shepherd fur loss but a massive patch of missing fur. Our floor didn’t look any different…it is like a blanket of fur daily. Bobbi calls the balls of Tonto fur that float around the house…Tonto tumbleweeds. Love that. She is great with the phrases. So catchy. She calls my two grand dogs…Rat and Tat. Their names are Ritz and Rover. Rat and Tat are hysterical because those two names fit perfectly with their personalities.
As soon as I noticed the furless patch…on goes the cone of shame…to Tonto’s dismay. He is a dog and as dogs do…they can’t leave a sore alone. The cone is the sore’s only line of protection from the owner.
Mitchell…feels bad for Tonto wearing the cone. Indeed, Tonto is a pathetic sight with that thing on. He runs into door frames, people, and furniture. Also, he struggles to get turned around in the doorways when he needs to do a quick turnaround. Super funny in a sad sort of way.
The other night at work…I started getting Snaps from the kids of Tonto…and you will notice in the pictures my dog does NOT have a cone on. I was thinking to myself…what happened to my pupper dog’s cone head??? 🤔 🤨
My Suspicions
My first guess…Mr. Mitchell Man got to feeling sorry for Tonto and removed the cone.
When I arrived home, a happy cone-less Tonto greeted me at the door.
Then I notice the cone curled up on the floor by the couch. HMMM…Tonto did NOT take that cone off by himself. No damage on the cone. 🧐
So I sought Mr. Mitchell Man out and asked how did Tonto become a cone-less dog???? 🤨
He got this sheepish, sad, busted smile on his face and said…well…he was looking so sad with those puppy dog eyes and with those ears smashed up against the cone…so I took it off for him. I told him…he couldn’t scratch his sore.
OHHH…KAY…I am SURE Tonto will abide by that. NOT. 😳
The vet put him on antibiotics today for ten days to clear up a staph infection due to an allergic reaction to his NEW food. She said two things…tell your son to leave the cone on…until the antibiotics kick in. AND…to go back to the old food.
Both Mitchell and I got spanked by the vet today.
Sigh!
So we do this Pro Plan food because the vet wants him on it to prevent heart disease.
My question is this…what about my heart? Because when the clerk told me that will be $90 today…I thought I would have a heart attack. The cost of his food is going to cause my heart to fail. Goodness. 😳
Now…I did buy him some new balls to play catch with…but most of that bill was the food.
I spent $130 at the vet and $90 at the pet food center. Wowser.
It is a super good thing he is such an amazing dog to be around.
On a positive note…I did spend a few bucks on myself. 🥰
Security
We have a security guard who is a regular at the store. The other night, I asked him for some recommendations regarding a situation I had last week. He told me to buy a stun gun and pepper spray and keep both of them and my phone on me when I am working alone. I thought those suggestions were wise, so today I went and got my goodies.
I love the blingy pepper spray. The nozzle glows in the dark too. Super cool. I will be blingy while sporting a couple of little security features. Love the flashlight/stun gun combo. I picked blue…it IS my favorite color.
Lastly
My flat iron died last week. So sad. BUT…give me lemons and I will make lemonade, so I am embracing the curls for now. Since then, I have been playing more with hair scarves and headbands.
I decided to stop at a local store and see if they had any more headbands or scarves I might like.
Didn’t find any scarves but I did find a tube top style summer dress I felt like I couldn’t live without. It is flowy and beautiful. SO I BOUGHT IT…for me. Yippee!
Now I need to go out and do something so I can wear it. When I do…I will post pictures. It is super cute, and I am in love with it. It feels fun and I am ALL about fun so sounds like a great plan to me. 😍
On a Final Note
I had to laugh when I read the back of the stun gun packaging. Some will feel intolerable pain. I was thinking to myself…man…wouldn’t it be nice to use this on people that you wish could feel intolerable pain? Some will say not nice, I am sure…but listen…I am transparent, honest, and real. So I am just stating the facts here…there are times when I wish it were acceptable to use the stun gun outside of emergency situations just to inflict a little pain on a few deserving people. Do you know what I mean? 🤣 😜
That was my day. Super marvy and very pricey. Hope your day was profitable for you. 😉
